Arjun Verma
Managing Attorney
Immigration lawyer Arjun Verma has been practicing law since 1989. He
completed his B. A. from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta University, Calcutta,
LL.B. from Bombay University, Bombay, India and LL.M. from Tulane Law School,
Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. He was admitted to the California Bar in
1998.
A member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Arjun Verma is
dedicated to providing his clients with the highest level of service possible.
As an immigrant to the U.S., he takes a personal interest in all the cases he
handles and offers practical advice based on the latest developments in U.S.
immigration law.
Prior to coming to the US, he has had extensive legal experience in India
dealing with corporate, commercial and intellectual property laws. He has worked
in the legal department of a leading multinational company and as a legal
counsel at Calcutta High Court.
Arjun Verma has been practicing immigration law for over 10 years in the San
Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Verma is fluent in Hindi.
Aileen Kim
Associate Attorney
Aileen Kim graduated cum laude
from University of California, San Diego and earned a B.A. in Political Science
in 2006. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree, Ms. Kim graduated and earned a
Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Santa Clara University School of Law. During
law school, Ms. Kim worked as an Articles Editor for the Computer and High Tech
Law Journal. In 2008, Ms. Kim interned at the National Human Rights Commission
of Korea where she provided assistance to immigrants working in Korea. She was
also a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Nathan D. Mihara of the California
Court of Appeal, Sixth District and for the Honorable Jacqueline Duong of the
Santa Clara County Superior Court. Previously, Ms. Kim volunteered at the legal
research department at the San Mateo County Superior Court.
Margret Ann Gonzales
Associate Attorney
Margret Ann Gonzales graduated
cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington,
D.C. A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, Ms. Gonzales worked
as a paralegal for Berry, Appleman, & Leiden, a San Francisco-based immigration
law firm, before beginning her legal education. While in school, Ms. Gonzales
interned with International Justice Mission’s regional office in Lusaka, Zambia
working on women’s property rights and child sexual assault cases. Ms. Gonzales
also previously worked as a Law Fellow at the Public International Law & Policy
Group in Washington, D.C. working on constitutional reform, human rights, and
transitional justice issues. In December 2012, Ms. Gonzales also earned a
Master’s Degree in International Affairs at American University, School of
International Service.
Sejal Desai
Law Clerk
Ms. Desai has over 3 years of experience in immigration law. She is highly
proficient in drafting various employment and family immigration applications as
well as briefs and appeals before various immigration courts and tribunals. Ms.
Desai is a licensed attorney in New York and a member of the American
Immigration Lawyers' Association (AILA). She is a Masters in Law (LL.M.)
graduate from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, ranked amongst
the Top 20 law schools by U.S. News. Ms. Desai is fluent in 3 Indian languages,
viz., Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.
Mari Katsura
Legal Assistant
Mari graduated magna cum
laude from Santa Clara University in June 2012, earning a Bachelor’s degree in
Communication with minors in Sociology and Spanish. As an undergraduate she
volunteered at the Center for Employment Training to help recent immigrants
prepare for their citizenship interviews. She also tutored primary school
students at the after school program, Sacred Heart Community Service Homework
Club. On campus, Mari worked as a student tutor, research assistant, and campus
post office employee. She spent three months working abroad as a fundraising
intern for I CAN, a children’s charity organization in London.
Svetlana Sokolova
Legal Assistant
Svetlana Sokolova has more than
2 years of experience in immigration law. She handles both family-based and
employment-based immigration cases. Ms. Sokolova holds a Master’s Degree in Law
from Russia and a Masters in Law (LLM) in US Legal Studies from Golden Gate
University. She worked at Verma Law Firm from 2008 until 2010 and she recently
rejoined our team. Ms. Sokolova is fluent in Russian.
Geneva Mendoza
Legal Assistant
Geneva graduated from Heald College in June 2010 and earned a AAS degree in
Paralegal. While enrolled in school she worked full-time, interned as a
paralegal for the Santa Clara County Public Defenders Office and volunteered at
the Center for Employment Training Program (C.E.T.). Geneva is
currently enrolled at University of Phoenix to pursue a Bachelor of Science in
Criminal Justice. Geneva aspires to pursue law school in the near future. She is
fluent in Spanish.
Nora Carrizosa
Legal Assistant
Nora graduated from Santa Clara University in June 2012 and earned a Bachelor of
Science and a Bachelor of Arts, with majors in Political Science and Spanish and
a minor degree in Latin American Studies. Throughout her
undergraduate career, Nora was volunteered at Estrella Family Services where she
tutored and supervised elementary school aged children. She also worked as a
student assistant for the Finance and Religious Studies Department at Santa
Clara University.
